Glenn M. Shelton, 68, formerly of Louisville, passed away November 26, 2017.
He served in the United States Marines in Vietnam, earning a purple heart.
Mr. Shelton’s family information is unknown. The funeral home is inviting any Veterans, organizations, or members of the public who would like to attend his services. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 16, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Allisonville Christian Church, located at 7701 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis. A Veteran themed funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place privately at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Madison, Indiana. Indiana Funeral Care is feels honored to lay this veteran to rest.

I am a disabled vet asking anyone near Greenwood who plans to attend to allow me and my service dog to ride with you, because we too are mostly alone and understand the fear of nobody there to send us home.   109. Brave Hero you have now reached a place where you are received with love and welcome, contrary to the arrival that the country gave you when we arrived from the Vietnam War. The homecoming was very sad and different for most Vietnam veterans. We came back to find the country torn apart by debate over the Vietnam War. There were no victory parades or welcome-home rallies. Instead, most Vietnam veterans returned to a society that did not seem to care about us, that seemed to view that protesters simply did not make a clear distinction between the war and those who fought it, and they regarded us soldiers as ready and willing killers or ignorant puppetry.

Only now he is praised because he has passed on. What about the past fifty years he had to live the way he did. I hope the protesters of the sixty’s feel good about themselves.     I would have attended your funeral if I could have been there…
    My father was a career Marine with the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing out of El Toro Marine Base in Southern California…
    He served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam…and like your life, our family didn’t learn until 27 years later, as he was dying of Agent Orange, about the things that he went thru there…in those jungles where hundreds of Marines gave their lives…

  134. Just saw this. As 67 year old vet, also in Vietnam, in 1970-71, although in Army 52nd Sgn Btn Saidec, wish him best in his future. I am Buddhist, and expect him to have one. If not per my vision, hope best for his vision. Best honors to him. Not sure as Army grunt can say, but have relatives there in Marines (even now, we serve always), Semper Fi. Read through all above, hope I can be helpful to his spirit as the many above have tried.

I had the privilege of entertaining many of you who were on leave in Hawaii when I was there in the mid-1960’s while I was a Music Major at the University of Hawaii.
